WELCOME TO YOUR LIBRARY!

People of all ages can benefit from the free resources, media, and programs available at the library! From mysteries and graphic novels to cookbooks and biographies, SPL has something for readers of all ages and interests. In addition to physical copies, you will gain instant online access to free ebooks and audiobooks, which you can download from home with the push of a button.

Libraries are among our country’s most democratic institutions, promoting free and open access to information for everyone. Registering for a library card is one of the easiest ways to support this mission, since libraries use their sign-up stats to prove their value to local policymakers and advocate for much-needed funding. When you sign up for a library card, you’re helping demonstrate that today’s libraries are more important than ever!

Can my child get a card?

A frequent question at the Circulation Desk is, “How old do you have to be to receive a library card?” The answer is, everyone can receive a library card, even toddlers, even babies! We believe every child should have a library card and use it often.

Children (under 16 years of age) must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian who must show proper identification. The parent or legal guardian assumes responsibility for any Library charges incurred by the child.

How long is my card good for?

Your library card is good for a year and can be renewed annually!

What can I do with my card?

Your library card will allow you to check out books, DVD’s, audiobooks and more at the Summersville Public Library AND at any of the 100+ West Virginia Library Network locations across the state.

You will also gain access to our Digital Collection, hosted on the Libby App.

Who is responsible for items checked out on my card?

You are responsible for all materials checked out on your card. Do not let other people use your library card or the items you check out and make sure to report lost or stolen cards to us.

How do I replace a lost card?

Replacement cards can be requested in-person at the Circulation Desk. There is a $1.00 fee for card replacement.
